Walking the Talk for Dementia (WTD) is an unconventional conference comprised of a 4-day walk and 2-day symposium. This immersive experience challenges conventional power dynamics and hierarchies in healthcare by using shared vulnerability as a catalyst for transformation. Along the way, participants will connect with new people, explore topics related to their challenges in dementia, reshape their professional and personal behaviour, explore innovative projects, and foster collective solutions.

The third edition of WTD is set to take place from 24-31 August 2025 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, under the overarching theme ‘Rethinking the Future of Dementia’.

Travel grants available

Professionals attending WTD can benefit from a travel grant offered by the Alzheimer’s Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatmen (ISTAART).

The application process will begin on 14 April 2025 and will be open to members of the PIAs Partnering with Research Participants and/or Health Policy.

There will be 6 full travel fellowships covering event registration and accommodation in student housing, and 9 partial fellowships offering a 30% discount on registration. Priority will be given to early-career researchers (within 10 years of their last degree), researchers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), and those from underrepresented groups.
