The English-language Master’s program Neuroscience at the University of Oldenburg, Germany, focuses on (but is not limited to) Sensory, Behavioural, and Computational Neuroscience.
It is basic science oriented and provides comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of neuroscience from a biological point of view. Therefore, it mainly covers the nervous systems of vertebrate and invertebrate animals.
The program is very flexible, allowing students to focus on their own interests by designing their individual curriculum. In addition to theoretical neuroscience background knowledge and practical methods (including electrophysiology, animal behavior, psychophysics, mathematical modelling, molecular genetics, anatomy, and modern imaging techniques), students acquire transferable skills (e.g. programming, data analysis, and science communication). They also gain hands-on research experience by completing one to three research projects prior to the master’s thesis. A wide range of electives, a multidisciplinary teaching faculty, and the opportunity to take courses from other master’s programs or spend a semester abroad allow students to develop their personal profile.
Students who are specifically interested in the molecular neuroscience or in cognitive psychology should consider our ‘sister programs’ Molecular Biomedicine or Neurocognitive Psychology, which are also offered at University of Oldenburg.
