Two years Assistant Professor Position is open at the University of Orleans in the laboratory Physiology, Ecology and Environment (P2E), the team Neurobiology and Neuropharmacology of Ion Channels (NNIC) directed by Prof. Steeve Thany (steeve.thany@univ-orleans.fr).

Current projects focus on the functional and pharmacological properties of arthropod neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. The Assistant Professor will have to develop electrophysiology (patch clamp), behavioral experiments and molecular biology on honey bee. We are looking for someone who will be able to study the pharmacological properties of honyebee neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, and their involvement in learning and memory.

Key responsibiliies include :

-Teaching neurosciences at the University

-Supervise students in the laboratory

First, we are looking for a specialist of electrophysiology (patch clamp). The aim is to work on honey bee neurons from the mushroom bodies. Thus, candidates with research experience and knowledge in electrophysiology will have an advantage.

The successfull applicant will :

-hold a PhD in Neurosciences, biology or related disciplines

-be proficient in English or French with strong communication skills.

-demonstrate recent publications using electrophysiology

 

The position is for 2 years, or even 3 years, depending on the results. Salary will depend on the candidate’s experience. The university will consider the applicant’s CV.
