Deadline: 30 April 2025
City: Mainz
Country: Germany
Institution: Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

Description:
Two PhD student positions in Neuroregeneration are available within our newly funded Carl Zeiss Stiftung initiative InteReg.
InteReg is an interdisciplinary research consortium, whose mission is to develop therapeutic solutions based on interactive biomaterials to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
We are recruiting PhD students, who will work in project teams across disciplines. These PhD positions are fully funded by the Carl Zeiss Stiftung and are already available in the group of Martin Heine to work on synaptogenesis and functional recovery after injury, and in the Junior group of Himanshu Mishra (Claire Jacob’s group) to develop vascularized brain organoid lesion models.
To join our consortium for your PhD studies, please send to Martin Heine (marthein@uni-mainz.de) or to Claire Jacob (cjacob@uni-mainz.de) a single pdf containing your CV, a letter of motivation, a detailed summary of your Master work, and the contact information of at least two references. Requirements are a Master in Biology, Neuroscience, Biomedicine, or related field, and a high dedication to Science. Although the closing date for applications is April 30, 2025, we will evaluate applications as we receive them.
