Position: Ph.D. Student
Deadline: 25 May 2025
Employment Start Date: 1 November 2025
Contract Length: 4 years
City: Rovereto
Country: Italy
Institution: Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia
Department: Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory
Description:
The Gozzi Laboratory at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (www.fnimg.iit.it) in Rovereto, Italy, is pleased to announce a fully funded PhD studentship under the newly funded ERC project “BRAINAMICS”.
The aim of this project is to advance our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying brain network connectivity through an integrated approach that combines experimental neurobiology and advanced computational analyses. Our research addresses how the brain functions as an integrated network in both health and disease. To this end, the project employs a combination of causal neural manipulations in rodent models, cutting-edge functional neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, fUS), multimodal electrophysiological recordings, and innovative neuro-computational methods. A distinctive feature of the project is the use of perturbational strategies to elucidate the mechanisms of functional dysconnectivity in brain disorders. Please note that this research involves extensive hands-on experimental work with rodent models, and will include the design and execution of experiments, as well as ensuing data analyses.
The successful candidate will become a member of the international doctoral school in Cognitive and Brain Sciences, established in collaboration with the University of Trento (http://web.unitn.it/en/cimec/). Admission to the doctoral school will be subject to a competitive selection process in accordance with its established regulations. Please note admission dates are requirements will be available at this link: https://phd.unitn.it/drcimec/116/admission-doctorate-cognitive-and-brain-sciences
