Description:

The Department of Neurophysiology at the Medical Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum led by Denise Manahan-Vaughan, implements multidisciplinary approaches to understanding the mechanisms underlying memory. A postdoctoral position is currently available for a candidate that has  a strong background in the area of in vitro electrophysiology (field recordings and multielectrode array), specifically using hippocampal slice preparations from rodents. Focus of research will be the mechanisms underlying cortical and hippocampal plasticity, as well as associated transtructural network oscillations in transgenic rodents and/or using optogenetic/chemogenetic approaches. (See: doi: 10.1098/rstb.2023.0229).  Applicants should have a doctoral degree in neuroscience, or related area. They should have a proven track record (including peer-reviewed publications) in the abovementioned electrophysiological methods and research field, as well be competent in quantitative data analysis.

The position  will be funded at the level of E13 (german salary system) for two years, with the possibility of contract extension.
