City: Bochum
Country: Germany
Institution: Ruhr University Bochum, Medical Faculty
Department: Neurophysiology
Description:
The Department of Neurophysiology, led by Denise Manahan-Vaughan, at the Medical Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum, hosts a vibrant and talented team of neuroscientists from a variety of scientific backgrounds that implement multidisciplinary approaches to understanding the mechanisms underlying memory. A postdoctoral position is currently available for a candidate that has a strong interest, and prior training, in the area of wide-field calcium imaging in the cortex and hippocampus of freely behaving rodents. The research project will focus on the interaction of cortical systems with the hippocampus in the enabling of long-term associative memory. Along with wide-field calcium imaging, optogenetics and rodent behavioural paradigms will be implemented. Experience with rodent stereotaxic methodology and/or in vivo electrophysiology, Matlab/Python and signal analysis is advantageous. Candidates should have a PhD in neuroscience or in an associated field. and have experience working with behaving rodents. A FELASA B qualification, or equivalent, is required. The candidate should have a proven track record (including peer-reviewed publications) in the abovementioned methods and research field, as well be competent in quantitative data analysis.
