Investigating the Link Between Brain ECM Markers and Human Neurocognitive Functioning
Position: Ph.D. Student
Deadline: 28 February 2025
Employment Start Date: 1 March 2025
Contract Length: up to 4 years
City: Magdeburg
Country: Germany
Institution: Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology
Department: Behavioral Neurology
Description:
In our project A05 of the Collaborative Research Center ”Neural Resources of Cognition” (CRC1436) we invite applications for a funded PhD position (E13, 65%).
The project focuses on the relationship between extracellular matrix (ECM)-related markers (e.g., serum levels, genetic polymorphisms) and neurocognitive functions in humans (particularly cognitive flexibility and memory).
We use advanced MRI techniques, particularly fMRI in conjunction with quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) and free-water diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) as imaging proxies for brain ECM integrity.
The project includes analysis of data from existing cohorts and the acquisition and analysis of a multimodal MRI and neuropsychological study on reward memory.
This position provides an exciting opportunity for a motivated researcher to join a vibrant academic environment and contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, and neuroimaging.
