Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position offered to join the The GruberLab @ the Center for Physiology and Pharmacology, Medical University of Vienna
(Austria).
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in molecular pharmacology (GPCR assays wet-lab) and computational biology (peptidomimetics/transcriptomics, AI/ML assisted design etc.) to join our them in Vienna. The focus of the position is to discover GPCR ligands – for instance using the chemical diversity of naturally-occurring peptides in plants or animal venoms as starting point – screen, design and develop peptide-based molecular probes and possible drug candidates targeting peptide GPCRs. The research aim is to identify molecular determinants that modulate receptor subtype selectivity and signalling specificity of GPCRs with the long-term to develop peptide drugs with less side-effects.
The project involves multidisciplinary approaches, and may include peptidomimetics, peptide synthesis, computational design, structural analysis and peptide-receptor interactions and receptor pharmacology.
Successful candidates will join an international and inspiring research group whose work is featured in several highly-cited papers (in top quality peer-reviewed journals) with established collaboration in Europe, Australia and the USA.
Founded in 1365 as a Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna, the MedUni Vienna is now one of the world’s largest and most renowned medical universities. Vienna is an enjoyable and international capital, with the worldwide #1 quality of life (The Economist).
Interested candidates should submit their application, including motivation letter, CV, information on previous research experience and technical skills, list of publications, and names and e-mail address of two academic references to Prof. Dr. Christian Gruber, christian.w.gruber@meduniwien.ac.at.
