Department: Department of Biosciences
Description:
A PhD fellowship (PhD Research Fellow in Neuroscience (274515) | University of Oslo) is available at in the research group of Prof. Marianne Fyhn at the Centre for Integrative Neuroplasticity at the University of Oslo, Norway. The project focuses on molecular and circuit mechanisms to stages of memory processing in higher brain areas of mice.
The work will include targeted perturbation of neuron activity and function and measurements of the effects on animal performance and neural population dynamics. Neural activity during animal behaviour will be monitored using in vivo two photon imaging in combination with genetically encoded activity sensors as well as large scale extracellular recordings. The work will be immersed in a multidisciplinary team and involve close collaboration between molecular biologists, neuroscientists and machine learning experts in our research group as well as with national and international collaborators.
The research group conducts research at the highest level providing an ideal learning environment for the candidate to develop high-end experimental and computational skills that are attractive for a future career in research, public or private sector.
