Description:
UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.
The laboratory of Dr. Anne Vassalli in the Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead an exciting research project funded by the Swiss Federal Innovation Agency “Innosuisse”.
Project description
Our laboratory is interested in understanding the cause of the sleep disorder narcolepsy. Following our recent discovery of epigenetic silencing of the hypocretin/orexin gene in narcolepsy patients, the aim of the project is to provide Proof-of-Concept of the disease reversal by epigenetic drugs. We seek to leverage diverse in vitro (cell-based) and in vivo (mouse model) approaches to identify novel compounds (small molecules) that will reactivate the hypocretin/orexin gene and lead to the development of the first disease-modifying treatment for narcolepsy.
Workplace: University of Lausanne – Bugnon/CHUV
Your responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and conduct advanced research experiments involving molecular biology and both cellular and mouse model systems.
- Evaluate and statistically analyze data
- Summarize research findings and publish results.
