Description:

A postdoctoral position is open in the lab of Giuliano Iurilli, using automatic behavior segmentation, virtual reality paradigms, electrophysiology, and optical approaches in mice to investigate how motivational drives shape sensory-motor transformations in midbrain circuits.

 

About the lab

The lab is composed of researchers with wide-ranging and complementary skills and training. We aim to build a diverse and collaborative group of people who share their distinct approaches and thoughts to generate new ideas on the functions of neural circuits.

Our laboratory is situated in the beautiful Trentino region of Northern Italy, surrounded by the stunning Dolomite mountains. Your profile

Applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.D., expertise in animal studies using electrophysiology or imaging, and good programming skills in Matlab or Python. Previous experience working with mice is a plus but not a requirement. Applicants primarily interested in computational positions are encouraged to apply, but priority will be given to applicants also interested in conducting in vivo experiments.

 

Contract and salary

The initial appointment is funded by the Armenise-Harvard Foundation for two years. We will further support you in applying for prestigious postdoctoral fellowships: Marie Skłodowska-CurieEMBOHFSP, and L’Oreal-UNESCO. The starting date is flexible. Foreign candidates or Italian nationals who take a research job in Italy after >2 years of professional work (or a Ph.D.) abroad may be eligible for a 90% tax break.
