About us

Research from the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) at UCL covers the journey from the patient to the laboratory and back to the patient with improved diagnosis, biomarkers and candidate therapies put to the test. Led by Professor Karen Duff, UK DRI Centre Director at UCL, the team address the key unanswered mechanistic questions that link genetic and life course factors to dysfunction in molecular pathways, in cells and in neural systems during the progression of the dementias. This work will be enhanced by clinical resource to link lab work to the clinic.

About the role

The Centre Colony Manager is based in the UK DRI at UCL’s core services team, located at the Cruciform building. The UK DRI at UCL is currently comprised of c100 researchers and support staff at all levels and is still growing. The role is primarily focused on the management and maintenance of the UK DRI at UCL’s animal colonies and will also involve other duties related to animal research at the UK DRI. You will interact with research staff at all levels daily and will help facilitate research at the UK DRI.

You will be the main point of contact between the UCL biological services and the UK DRI at UCL’s researchers and will be expected to manage multiple transgenic mouse lines and to maintain suitable records. You will also assist in the day-to-day running of the laboratory and will be involved in ensuring that health and safety policies are followed and updated accordingly. You will also have a central role in planning and implementing the phased transition of animal activities from the Bloomsbury Campus to the ION-DRI Grays Inn Road Hub over the next two years.

The role is available immediately and funded by the UK DRI for two years in the first instance.
